Indian Women and Mathematics

Indian Women and Mathematics (IWM) is an association of Indian women mathematicians that has been in existence since 2009. The objective of IWM is to encourage more women to pursue higher education in Mathematics and to organize events and networking opportunities that will enable them to take up careers in Mathematics. IWM in association with Manipal University Jaipur (MUJ) is organising a winter school in March 2021. This is a one week programme intended to benefit the students studying in second year of B.Sc./Integrated M.Sc. and having Mathematics as one of the major subjects/courses, during the academic year 2020-21. The programme will however, have a special focus on women participants. The aim is to encourage and support large scale participation of women.

In a period of one week, this programme will aim to provide young students a broader exposure to reasoning through logical steps to achieve critical mathematical thinking, apart from problem solving skills in the areas specified.

The winter school is funded by the National Board for Higher Mathematics (NBHM), Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India and Manipal University Jaipur.
